Buffalo Bills Quarterback Josh Allen has become a polarizing figure in the NFL since his rise to stardom in 2020, and being called “overrated” in an anonymous player poll was the latest absurd opinion about him to surface in the news.
People either love him or hate him, and there seems to be no in-between.
Allen joined “The Facility” on FS1 Friday and answered a question from his old friend, LeSean McCoy. The former Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles running back asked Allen if it bothered him to learn that he had been voted the NFL’s most “overrated” player.
“I loved it,” Allen said. “I’m a logical guy and I understand what the NFL is about. There’s 32 teams. There’s 31 other fans and players who I hope despise me and are really sick of me, because it means I’m doing the right thing on the field for the Buffalo Bills.”
It’s an understatement to say that Allen does what he needs to do on the field for his team. Since 2020, Allen has the most total touchdowns in the NFL (179) by a wide margin. Patrick Mahomes is second on the list with 25 fewer touchdowns over that span.
“I think it’s a sign of affection and respect when guys don’t like me or think I’m that good,” he continued. “I can tell you one thing, the guys that are in this building don’t think that way.”
The guys in the construction department at 1 Bills Drive in Orchard Park, N.Y., are all over the 28-year-old point guard and have been for a long time. After just two weeks, he already has the second-best odds for the NFL MVP award behind Mahomes. The league can gossip all they want, but when the 60-minute clock starts on game day, you know what to expect with No. 17.
