Will the Ravens Take Over AT&T Stadium? Jerry and Stephen Jones Talk Fan Attendance

Home-field advantage wasn’t really noticeable in the Dallas Cowboys’ 2024 home opener.

Every time a New Orleans Saints player found the end zone during the 44-19 Week 2 victory, chants of “Who Dat?” rained down from the stands at AT&T Stadium. The black and gold jerseys also took a backseat to the white and blue typically seen in North Texas.

As the Cowboys look to bounce back from their slump, can they expect another stadium takeover? Led by reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson, the Baltimore Ravens are one of the most popular teams in the NFL.

Jerry Jones said the idea of another “invasion” doesn’t make him nervous.

“I know there are a lot of tickets sold to Ravens fans and you can see that by the activity in the non-season ticket market, which is not the season ticket market. It could be season ticket sales for this game,” Jones told 105.3 The Fan (KRLD-FM). “The fact is I fully expected this game to happen. I had this game at the top of my list because it was an important game for everybody who cared about the fans.”

The Cowboys dominated their home stadium, winning 16 straight regular-season games before their Week 2 loss to New Orleans. Including a disappointing playoff loss to Green Bay in January, Dallas has yet to find its feet in front of a North Texas crowd.

While Stephen Jones said he doesn’t like the idea of away fans being in large numbers, he understands why it happens. He attributed the Saints’ strong attendance to a variety of factors, including D-FW’s proximity to Louisiana.

“Of course, we would prefer that all the fans be Cowboys fans, but we benefit from that most of the time on the road because we have a large percentage of Cowboys fans in the opposing teams’ stadiums,” Stephen Jones said. “So I understand that. Every once in a while, there are teams that haven’t been to AT&T that want to experience North Texas and what AT&T Stadium is all about. But if we had our preference, honestly, no, I would like 100 percent of them to be Cowboys fans. But I also know that may be unrealistic.”
