NFL fined Cincinnati Bengals receiver Ja’Marr Chase $19,697 for unsportsmanlike conduct/violent gesture in connection with touchdown celebration in Week 5 loss to Baltimore RavensFirst of all reported by Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
The TD was Chase’s first of two in the game. He also scored on a 70-yard reception from quarterback Joe Burrow in the fourth quarter and finished the game with 10 catches for 193 receiving yards.
Fines for violent actions earlier in the NFL season did not exceed $14,609.
Chase’s Bengals teammate, Trey Hendrickson, was fined $16,883 for roughing up the passer for landing his full weight on Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson during the fourth quarter.
Chase was fined $31,599 after the Bengals’ Week 2 loss to the Chiefs for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty he received for arguing with official Alex Kemp.
Chase received two fines totaling more than $23,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct in September 2022.
