Some big-name players will be absent when the Philadelphia Eagles (3-2) take on the New York Giants (2-4) in the NFC East showdown Sunday at MetLife Stadium (1 p.m. EST).

The Giants had to place pass rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux on injured reserve with a wrist injury before their game against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 6. They also had to add All-Pro left tackle Andrew Thomas to IR this week with a season-ending game. Lisfranc wound.

Add in injuries to star defensive players Dexter Lawrence and Brian Burns, and the Giants look like a team in shambles with the arrival of arch-rival Philadelphia.

The Eagles are feeling their pain.

Injuries to key offensive players continue to rise this season for Philly. Receivers AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith have recovered from multi-week absences, but tight end Dallas Goedert and left tackle Jordan Mailata were absent from practice this week after suffering hamstring injuries against the Browns. Cleveland.

Who will each team have as one of the NFL’s most legitimate rivalries renews Sunday in East Rutherford, New Jersey? Here’s a complete team-by-team injury breakdown from Friday’s final practice report:

Eagles vs. Giants: Full injury designations

    New York Giants

    Out

    • P Jamie Gillan (hamstring)

Matt Haack will handle punting duties for the second straight game after Gillan was once again unable to practice this week. The Giants worked out five punters before signing Haack to their 53-man roster before last week’s game against the Bengals, and Haack performed well in the game, averaging 46.8 yards per snap. foot with a length of 55.

    • CB Adoree’ Jackson (sleeve)

The Giants brought the veteran back on a one-year deal about a month ago, but his impact has been limited due to injuries. Jackson was slowed by a calf issue last week. He was a late addition to the injury report this week with a neck injury. The Giants will roll with young corners Deonte Banks, Dru Phillips and Cor’Dale Flott against the Eagles.

    Questionable

After sitting out Wednesday and Thursday, Burns returned to practice as a limited participant Friday. He’ll take an injury designation this weekend, but the superstar passer who has 15 solo tackles, three sacks and a forced fumble in his first six games with the Giants appears on track to play in Week 7 .

    • DT Dexter Lawrence (hip)

Similar to Burns, Lawrence returned to practice Friday after two DNPs to start the week. One of the most disruptive interior linemen in the NFL, Lawrence should be out there trying to rally his good friend and former teammate Saquon Barkley on Sunday.

The Giants added Belton to their injury report Friday as the third-year pro was ruled out of practice due to illness. Belton is a key special teams player for the Giants who serves as a backup safety on defense.

    Philadelphia Eagles

    Out

    • TE Dallas Goedert (hamstring)

Goedert opted out early in the Eagles’ Week 6 win over the Browns and was unable to practice this week. Grant Calcaterra filled Goedert’s role as pass catcher in relief, making four catches for 67 yards, and will be counted on again against the Giants.

    • LT Jordan Mailata (hamstring)

The Eagles have a strong tackle in Fred Johnson, but Mailata is one of the Eagles’ irreplaceable stars on offense. The Giants have been among the most disruptive defenses in the NFL when it comes to pressuring the quarterback, and Mailata’s absence adds yet another challenge to what has been an inconsistent Eagles offense in 2024.

Another late addition to this week’s injury report, Ricks was never expected to play a major role against the Giants, whether he was active or not. He has yet to play a single defensive play for Vic Fangio this season.

    • DT Byron Young (hamstring)

Young was inactive against the Browns last week due to a healthy scratch. The second-year pro from Alabama dealt with a hamstring issue during Wednesday’s practice.

    Questionable

Slay left Philly’s Week 6 game against the Browns with a knee issue, leading to an extended run by veteran cornerback Isaiah Rodgers in his place. Listed as a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice report, Slay was demoted to DNP on Thursday. He practiced fully on Friday, but his status is worth monitoring through Sunday, as Rodgers and fellow forward Kelee Ringo have only played 57 defensive snaps combined so far this season.
