With seven weeks to go before the end of the season, the race remains tight between me and Jess Root for the coveted H-Bomb trophy awarded at the end of the year.
We were tied going into week 10 and even though we were both victorious, I was able to get within a match in the direct hit tiebreaker, which is when the underdog wins the match. To be eligible for the H-Bomb, the point spread must be 6.5 points or more.
Jess picked the Broncos to protect against the Chiefs and my pick was the Panthers to protect against the Giants. Germany was good to me as Carolina won the game as H-Bomb underdogs for the second week in a row.
Overall, it was another good week for the underdogs. After three consecutive weeks of defeats, the record was 3-2 in week 9, then 5-2 last week.
In addition to the Panthers and Broncos, the other winners were the Patriots covering and beating the Bears, the Buccaneers against the 49ers and the Jaguars against the Vikings. The only favorites to cover were the Chargers vs. Titans and Eagles vs. Cowboys.
The underdogs’ five victories brought the total to 30 over the first 10 weeks of the season with only 14 defeats (68.2%). Of the 30 covers, 16 won the game.

Jess makes a bold move on the biggest gap play this season, taking the Jaguars to cover against the Lions, even with Mac Jones at quarterback. Conversely, I’ll go with the game with the lowest margin, believing that after their bye, the Seahawks will remain close against the division rival 49ers.
