Texas star WR Nico Collins (hamstring) will return against the Cowboys | WSAU News/Talk 550 AM · 99.9 FM

Texans star wide receiver Nico Collins said Friday he will be back in the lineup when Houston visits the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night.

Collins has missed the last five games with a hamstring injury. He came off injured reserve last week, but still missed Houston’s 26-23 loss to the Detroit Lions.

Collins participated in limited practice on Thursday before participating fully on Friday.

“I’m just happy to feel good and happy to be able to have the opportunity to play this week and continue to pick up where I left off,” Collins told reporters Friday.

Collins got off to a hot start with three 100-yard outings in the first four games before suffering an injury in Week 5 during a win against the Buffalo Bills.

Collins, 25, was the NFL’s leading receiver at the time of his injury. He recorded 32 catches for 567 yards and three touchdowns in five games.

Texans quarterback CJ Stroud has struggled in recent weeks, so it’s no surprise that he’s happy to have Collins on the field.

“It’s huge. I’m very excited to have my guy back,” Stroud said. “I’m just happy he’s back in the team, part of the locker room again. They are alone, when players are injured, they are alone. So I’m happy that he can be with the guys again and be able to play the sport that he loves to play.

Collins, in his fourth campaign, set career highs in 2023 with 80 receptions, 1,297 yards and eight touchdowns.
