THE Chicago Bear need help at the safety position this weekend, and they’re bringing in a preseason favorite to help fill the void. The Bears are elevating Adrian Colbert from the practice squad for their game against the Minnesota Vikings as they deal with multiple injuries at the position. Colbert was signed to the practice squad earlier this week and is expected to see the field in some capacity for the first time since the 2022 season.

Colbert has been in the league since 2017 and spent the last two seasons with the Bears. He was primarily kept on the practice squad in 2023 and spent this past training camp with the team. It was there that he became one of the stars of the HBO series “Hard Knocks”, where he spoke about the tragedy of his childhood and how he finds peace during a chaotic time. Unfortunately, Colbert was one of the last cut and his conversation with general manager Ryan Poles was emotional.
Now Colbert is back and has another chance to extend his NFL career. The Bears also need his services. They lost two of their four safeties as Elijah Hicks is out with an ankle injury and Jaquan Brisker continues to miss time with a concussion. Veteran Jonathan Owens will start in place of Hicks, with Colbert likely playing a reserve role.
The Bears and Vikings are scheduled to kick off at Soldier Field on Sunday at noon CT.
