Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow enjoying an MVP-type season isn’t just an opinion from fans of the team itself.
Take, for example, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin,
Speaking to journalists before the Bengals and the Steelers meet for the first time this season, Tomlin described Burrow’s season as “MVP caliber,” according to ESPN. Brooke Prior.
It’s not just a coach’s speech before a game. Burrow completed 67.2 percent of his passes with 3,028 yards and 27 touchdowns against four interceptions. This, despite a shaky offensive line and Tee Higgins only being able to dress for six games.
Of course, Burrow himself would probably dismiss such praise given his team’s 4-7 record — and that’s probably what would keep him out of the MVP conversation entirely.
Yet what Burrow does does not go unnoticed. And if he can beat Tomlin’s Steelers both times he sees them between now and the end of the season, and his Bengals post wins in the other four remaining games, he would certainly enter the MVP conversation in a big way .
