The Cincinnati Bengals made two major changes to their starting lineup ahead of kickoff in Week 13 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Along the offensive line, the Bengals benched Cordell Volson and instead placed Cody Ford in the lineup at left guard. Ford has played left tackle in recent weeks due to injury, but is more natural at guard.
The idea in the trenches, at least, is to resolve some of the issues that have plagued the line while still allowing pressure up the middle.
And in the defensive secondary, Jordan Battle started ahead of Vonn Bell. It was more of a rotation as the season went on, but Battle is now fully taking over.
Both moves draw a line between the Bengals and attempt to make changes that help them win now — while allowing them to evaluate problem positions heading into the offseason.
