The Philadelphia Eagles have been without star receiver DeVonta Smith in the lineup for 16 days already. The “Slim Reaper” is dealing with a hamstring ailment and a day ago, Smith received his Week 13 designation. But has that designation changed?
The Eagles have a huge cross-conference showdown on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. NFL Network insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo provided a new update. Although, it’s a mixed update involving Smith.
“Eagles WR DeVonta Smith, listed as questionable with a hamstring, could practice Sunday to see if he can go,” Rapoport explained on X.
Then came the confusing part for the Eagles veteran.
But sources tell me and Mike Garafolo that there’s not a lot of optimism that he’ll be there,” Rapoport added. “Philly is going to leave it open, there’s just no lots of positivity.”
These words suggest that Smith will not be in the group at M&T Bank Stadium. Or, Smith may have the option to suit up. But that means the Eagles will only throw him on the field if a significant injury occurs in their WR room.
Smith’s last NFL appearance was on November 16. He caught four receptions for 29 yards in Philadelphia’s 26-18 win over the Washington Commanders.

He was not in the lineup during the Sunday Night Football rout of the Los Angeles Rams. Running back Saquon Barkley stole the show by racking up 255 rushing yards in the 37-20 victory. The win improved the Eagles to 9-2 overall.
If Smith suits up, he’ll face the 31st-ranked pass defense in passing yards. The Ravens also sit 28th overall in touchdowns allowed, a total of 22. Baltimore, however, picked up a crucial AFC victory Monday against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Smith has 41 receptions, 516 yards and four touchdowns this season. He made nine starts in 11 games.
