The Los Angeles Chargers are in great shape with Jim Harbaugh as head coach, with an 8-4 record and a prime playoff position while coming out on top in close games.
But in a different timeline, Jim Harbaugh is currently the head coach of the Chicago Bears.
According to an NFL insider Michael Lombardirecent rumors that Harbaugh was initially interested in the Chicago job are true.
“There were two teams that Jim Harbaugh would have loved to work for last year,” Lombardi said on The Pat McAfee Show. “The Bears, who he played for and who was the [first-round draft] pick, then the Las Vegas Raiders, for whom he worked in his first coaching job. Neither team decided to attack him. Why, I don’t know. »
Instead, the Bears are 4-8 and have already fired a head coach.
Of course, it’s only natural for a high-profile head coaching candidate to express some interest in a team about to pick the No. 1 overall spot. Harbaugh currently overseeing a rebuild around Caleb Williams would be very interesting.
And yet, you have to imagine that the Chargers were always the favorites during the process. Justin Herbert is a top 10 passer and defensive elements like Khalil Mack remain.
Regardless of what the rumors say, what Harbaugh has done in the first year of a so-called smooth rebuild is impressive and a sign that he’s with the Chargers for the long haul — and that franchises like the Bears made serious mistakes.
“Kevin Warren runs the Chicago Bears and this story about Jim Harbaugh is absolutely true.
