Mia DeCamilla, young 49ers fan who survived cancer
The family of a cancer survivor says her first-ever NFL game was ruined when a Buffalo Bills fan “purposely” pushed the girl because she was cheering for the opposing team.
Mia DeCamilla’s parents told CBS affiliate WIVB that their 8-year-old daughter, who became a San Francisco 49ers fan thanks to her father, was shoved by a “drunk” Bills fan during the game between the two teams on Sunday, December 1 at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York
Although she was not injured in the incident, DeCamilla fell out of her seat and was so shaken that she wanted to leave the match early.
“The guy intentionally went through and pushed people,” Mia’s father, Mike DeCamilla, told WIVB of the fan who claimed he was going to “push all these Niner fans” while walking down a snowy part of the stairs. “I understand it’s busy and hectic, but he must have been six feet tall and she weighed less than 100 pounds.”

Mike added: “He actually bumped me and my son a little bit, then passed me and pushed her, almost slipped off the stairs and hit his side on the chairs.”

Mia, who came to the game with a sign reading “I beat cancer,” told WIVB that she was excited and “full of energy” before arriving at the stadium. But after the unpleasant incident, she said she didn’t want to return to the room “because I felt uncomfortable and I didn’t feel ready to go anymore.”
Mia recalled how she and her father bonded at 49ers games while undergoing treatment for liver cancer, which she was diagnosed with in January 2022, according to a GoFundMe fundraiser.
“My father and I in the hospital, we watch football together, and then when I come home, sometimes for breaks, like in the hospital, when I had cancer, I sit and I relax and watch football all day, that’s what I love and that’s how I built my team,” Mia told WIVB.
According to the media outlet, former NFL player Antonio Brown contacted the DeCamilla family and planned to FaceTime Mia to help raise money for her medical care.
