Some jobs are more dangerous than others. Forestry workers face more dangers than most professions. Roofers face a higher number of risks than those in other professions. For our money, those who work in steel construction endure the most terrifying work environment.
However, it could increasingly be argued that the most dangerous job is running back for the San Francisco 49ers.
The damage rate is incredible. Go back to week 1 of the season. On the Friday before the 49ers’ Monday night opener against the Jets, Christian McCaffrey said he would play through a calf issue that has plagued him throughout the preseason. But he didn’t play. In fact, McCaffrey didn’t play until Week 10.
In his place would have been Elijah Mitchell, but McCaffrey’s replacement was placed on season-ending injury reserve before the start of the season due to a hamstring issue.
