The Jacksonville Jaguars stunned the Tennessee Titans on the road, winning 10-6 while playing with their backup quarterback and numerous other injuries. Jacksonville played a solid game across the board.
The Jaguars have struggled for much of this season. However, they found some success against the Titans, as rookie receiver Brian Thomas Jr. caught eight passes, for 86 yards and four first downs against the Titans.
“We tried earlier in the game to do some things that way,” Pederson said. “Tennessee took away a few of those options and we couldn’t find a rhythm. But that’s what we have to do, right? We need to get Brian (Thomas) involved. And he’s such a dynamic young freshman receiver who’s a great player. He’s going to be a very good player in this league.
“And for him and (QB) Mac (Jones) to make that play, it was kind of a broken play scramble that really got us there. And I think that’s when we scored the touchdown on this workout. Just great awareness from these two. BT is just a solid actor it continues to improve every week.
Jaguars quarterback Mac Jones also recognized Thomas’ strong play. Jones played a vital role in the Jaguars’ success on Sunday.
“I thought as the game went on, he did a good job of opening up,” Jones said. “He was open the whole game, but I just had to get him the ball early and let him settle in. As a rookie, I went there, you want to catch a few catches, go for it, you feel good and all the other guys like to make plays too, and the running backs and Tank (Bigsby) on that touchdown and all that so we just have to find a way to be a little more consistent. I said it, we I didn’t turn around and stop this time and that’s important.
Running back Tank Bigsby wasn’t surprised at all by Thomas’ success or what it meant for the team.
“Yeah, I feel like me, Brian [Thomas, Jr.]and all the guys on the team, when we have an opportunity to play and be in position, that’s what we do,” Bigsby said. “Thank God for Brian. Thank God that my teammates and all my brothers are coaches. It’s just it feels good to win. You just don’t know it. It’s a blessing.”
The Jaguars could pick up their second straight win next week when they face the New York Jets at home. Jacksonville could potentially go for a run to end the season.
