Ancient Cleveland Browns Head coach and longtime leader of the New England Patriots dynasty Bill Belichick is finalizing a deal to take over the North Carolina football program.
Best known for his time in Cleveland, Belichick was named head coach of the Patriots five years after being fired by the Baltimore Ravens (after the move) in 1995. All Belichick did in New England was win six Super Bowls and three NFL Coach of the Year Awards in his 24 years in the Boston area.
Belichick, however, agreed to step down as New England head coach after three losing seasons in four years. He took a year off in 2024, but is now returning to the game.
Although his deal is not yet official, it has been reported that Belichick and the Tar Heels let’s finalize a deal to name him the next head coach in Chapel Hill. This comes as another former Browns head coach, Freddie Kitchens, leads the team into its bowl game against UConn.
What a crazy turn of events.
