THE Indianapolis Colts announcement On Tuesday, they signed tight end Albert Okwuegbunam Jr. to the practice squad.

After the New York Jets signed cornerback Jaylin Simpson from the Colts’ practice squad last week and added him to their 53-man roster, Indianapolis had an opening, so no matching cut must be done to make room for Okwuegbunam.

Okwuegbunam weighs 6-5 – 258 pounds and has appeared in 30 NFL games, including seven starts. He is a former fourth-round pick of the Denver Broncos in 2020 out of Missouri.

The Broncos are reportedly trading Okwuegbunam to Philadelphia at the start of the 2023 season. He appeared in four games with the Eagles last year, playing 57 snaps.

Okwuegbunam signed a one-year contract last offseason to remain with the Eagles for the 2024 season, where he was on the injured reserve list from Weeks 1-9 before recently being released by the team .

Over the course of his career, Okwuegbunam has played 754 offensive snaps, including 421 during the 2021 season. He has caught 54 of 73 passes at 10.1 yards per reception with four touchdowns, spending about a third of that time in the slot. slots.

According to PFF’s grading system, Okwuegbunam graded out as an “average” run blocker in 2021, with a 58.0 grade that ranks him 49th out of 85 eligible tight ends this season.
