Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield did not participate in Wednesday’s walkthrough due to a knee issue and would not have practiced if the team had “gone full speed ahead,” the team announced.
Mayfield was among a long list of Bucs who did not practice: linebacker KJ Britt (ankle), tight end Cade Otton (knee), receiver Sterling Shepard (foot), safety Antoine Winfield Jr. ( knee) and offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs. (foot/knee).
Star receiver Mike Evans had an off day.
Mayfield, 29, started all 14 games for the NFC South-leading Bucs (8-6) and completed 328 of 463 passes (70.8%) for 3,617 yards, 32 touchdowns and 14 interceptions with a score passer rating of 104.1.
He was announced as the NFC Offensive Player of the Week on Wednesday after completing 22 of 27 passes for 288 yards, four touchdowns and a 135.3 passer rating in a 40-17 victory over the host Los Angeles Chargers. Angeles Sunday.
Mayfield has completed 63.2 percent of his career passes for 23,949 yards, 162 touchdowns and 88 picks in 103 regular season games (100 starts) for the Cleveland Browns (2018-21), Carolina Panthers ( 2022), the Los Angeles Rams (2022) and Bucs.
