Indianapolis Colts lose starting WR ahead of Tennessee Titans game

The Tennessee Titans are scheduled to face the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday in Week 16 of NFL action. Both teams have struggled this season, but the Titans are still the underdogs heading into this game.

Entering this week, Tennessee is just 3-11 on the season. They also benched Will Levis and put Mason Rudolph at quarterback this week.

That being said, the Colts lost one of their starting receivers for this AFC South matchup.

According to a report from ESPN Adam Schefter NFL Insider Alec Pierce will miss this week’s game with a concussion.

The Colts have ruled out WR Alec Pierce for Sunday’s game against the Titans.

Pierce has arguably been Indianapolis’ best playmaker this season. His loss will be important for the Colts offense.

For the Titans, this news greatly facilitated their defensive work. Anthony Richardson will need to stay in the pocket, but he no longer has his preferred deep threat. This will eliminate some of the big play opportunities for Indianapolis.

Tennessee will need to put pressure on Richardson. If they can find the quarterback, Richardson has shown he will make mistakes and throw interceptions this season.

Forcing turnovers and getting sacks will be a huge key to the Titans coming out of this game with a win.

Granted, the offensive side of the football is also a huge question mark for Tennessee. Rudolph might provide a little spark, but the unit as a whole has been a major disappointment this season.

A win would be good for team morale, but a loss would help give them a chance at the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. No matter how this game goes, the Titans will win either way.

All that being said, be sure to tune in for kickoff at 1:00 PM EST on CBS.
