Following the Indianapolis Colts“Week 16 win over the Tennessee Titans, Focus on professional football compiled the team’s snapshot numbers for Sunday’s game.
So what stood out time-wise, on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball?
For the most part, this late in the season, there aren’t many surprises when it comes to these snap numbers. At this point in the game, we generally know each player’s role in the offensive and defensive game plans.
That said, each week there are a few notable observations to be made.
With help from PFF, here are the Colts’ snapshot numbers from Week 16, along with some quick notes.

Quick notes:
– Without Alec Pierce, as expected, AD Mitchell slipped into this role of X receiver opposite Michael Pittman. Maybe it was because it was Ashton Dulin’s first game back from injury, but Mitchell dominated the playing time between these two, which hasn’t been the case often this season . When Mitchell was tasked with filling that specific role as an X receiver, he was able to do so. That includes a six-catch performance for 71 yards against Buffalo, as well as a 36-yard reception against Tennessee.
– This is more about next week, but this was Mark Glowinski’s third and final practice squad elevation. So if the Colts want him to be available on game days, he will need to be added to the 53-man roster.
– A trend? In three of the last four games, Drew Ogletree has outscored Mo Alie-Cox.

Quick notes:
– As we highlight every week, the snap totals between Sam Womack and Grant Stuard tell us how often the Colts were lined up in the nickel against their 4-3 base defense. While the Titans hung around and passed a lot, the Colts played a lot of nickel.
– Along the same lines, because the Titans had to become one-dimensional and go heavy. this meant we saw a lot of Laiatu Latu, who edged out Dayo Odeyingbo.
– With Jaylon Jones leaving the game in the fourth quarter, the Colts relied on David Long Jr. to line up against Womack. Cornerback depth is not something this defense has a lot of. We’ll wait for updates on Jones and see whether or not JuJu Brents might return this week.
– As expected, without EJ Speed, Jaylon Carlies, upon his return from IR, returned to this starting linebacker role alongside Zaire Franklin. He’s been good enough this season to limit YAC with the coverage ability he brings to the position.
