THE Jacksonville Jaguars will be without its starting left tackle against the Tennessee Titans.
Walker Little suffered a sprained ankle last week against the Las Vegas Raiders and will likely be out for the rest of the year, according to head coach Doug Pederson.
Cole Van Lanen will take over at tackle while Little is out.
“I really want to see Cole in there,” Pederson said Thursday. “He had a good pre-season, as we know, and he’s lined up well, so we’ll see him there.”
Lawrence injury update: His season is over. What injuries has he suffered during his career?
The injury concerns don’t stop there, with safety Darnell Savage still in concussion protocol and linebacker Ventrell Miller still day-to-day with an ankle injury.
The team signed linebacker Joe Giles-Harris to the active roster earlier this week to add depth to their linebacker room.
Pederson also said it’s possible Andrew Wingard could start at safety this week if Savage doesn’t follow protocol. Wingard missed the start of the season after suffering a leg injury in training camp.
The team has slowly brought him back into play, using him primarily on special teams since his return. Now that Savage’s status is in question, he might get a chance to fully showcase his abilities.
“He’s coming into his own right now,” Pederson said. “He played well last week and looking forward to seeing him go over the next few weeks.”
The injuries pile up as Jaguar get ready to face the Titans for the second time this December.
The Jaguars defeated their longtime opponent 10-6 on December 8.
In what will be the 61st meeting between the franchises, Pederson has no problem facing the Titans twice in the span of four weeks.
“We’re going to have to face them again at some point during the season,” Pederson said. “But you know, the familiarity with both teams and where both teams are in three weeks, this will be week four, it’s good.”
The Jaguars host the Titans on Sunday at 1 p.m. from EverBank Stadium.
