THE New England Patriots announced that they had placed cornerback Marcus Jones on injured reserve on Friday afternoon.
Jones had already been ruled out of Saturday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers after also missing last week’s game against the Buffalo Bills with a hip injury.
He was having a career year with 58 total tackles, 10 pass deflections, a fumble recovery and an interception. He has also managed to prove his worth on the offensive side of the football, as well as on special teams. The third-year cornerback/returner has one catch for 18 yards and a 14.6-yard punt return average.
In addition to placing Jones on injured reserve, the Patriots announced they had activated rookie tackle Caedan Wallace to the 53-man roster. Wallace left the Patriots’ Week 4 game against the San Francisco 49ers due to injury and was officially placed on injured reserve on October 4.
There is hope that Wallace can become a key contributor on the Patriots’ offensive front in the future.
The team also announced that linebacker Monty Rice and forward Alex Erickson were removed from the practice squad for Saturday’s game against the Chargers.
