THE Jacksonville Jaguars will be without its best defensive player for its last regular season game of 2024.
Josh Hines-Allen was ruled out against the Indianapolis Colts and will not travel with the team, the Jaguar announced Saturday.
Defensive end Joe Gaziano was elevated from the practice squad to the active roster to replace Hines-Allen.
Hines-Allen had played in all 16 games for the Jaguars this season. He has 45 tackles, eight sacks, 19 quarterback hits, two passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
Hines-Allen will now have to wait until the 2025 season to break the franchise record for sacks.
Hines-Allen is currently 53, two shy of Tony Brackens’ franchise record of 55.
Hines-Allen had a career-high 17.5 sacks in 2023, earning him a five-year, $150 million contract, with $88 million guaranteed, ahead of the 2024 season. His eight sacks this year constitute his third best total of his six-year career.
He played 90 games with the Jaguars, including 76 as a starter.
Gaziano has two tackles in two appearances for the Jaguars this season.
The Jaguars (4-12) will face the Colts (7-9) on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Lucas Oil Stadium.
