The Tennessee Titans have landed the top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft after the results of Week 18 NFL games, and some are wondering if Shedeur Sanders would “pull an Eli Manning” like his father, Deion, suggested there a few months. ESPN’s Adam Schefter believes that right now, Sanders is the favorite being selected by the Titans.
“I guess Shedeur Sanders is probably the No. 1 pick right now,” Schefter said on his podcast. “Tennessee needs a quarterback, Tennessee is going to be in that market. They have the chance to take whoever they want at the top of the draft. Obviously, Will Levis hasn’t worked this year like they would have liked.
The Titans’ firing of Ran Carthon complicates the top of the NFL Draft, because without a general manager in place, there is no way to know which direction the team could go with the top pick. With the firing, it feels like the Titans are an unstable organization, and coupled with the fact that they are a smaller market team compared to other teams in the league, many believe the family Sanders could try to achieve what Manning did in 2004 to avoid playing for the Los Angeles Chargers. Schefter is skeptical that the Sanders family can do it, or even try it.

“It’s hard to do, it’s very hard to do,” Schefter said. “You have to have a huge stomach and a huge dislike to go to a particular place and I don’t know if Tennessee will be able to discourage the Sanders family so much that we have this kind of instance. I didn’t expect it no, that doesn’t mean they can’t do it I don’t think they’ll do that you look at the situation and you say this is an organization that has had a little bit of instability recently, but. that she is going to build a new stadium that she is going open, it’s in a tax-free state, and Deion is a businessman first and foremost, and he knows Shedeur’s money is worth at least 10 percent more in Tennessee.”
There are a lot of unknowns at the top of the NFL Draft, from what the Titans will do to what the Sanders family will do. Based on Schefter’s reporting, it appears that Shedeur Sanders would be content to play at Tennessee if the franchise selected him.
