Chicago Bear Assistant general manager Ian Cunningham is once again a sought-after item in this general manager cycle as his current organization conducts its search for a new head coach.
THE Tennessee Titans announced they have completed an in-person interview with Cunningham for their vacant general manager position. This was the team’s second interview with Cunningham following a virtual interview with Tennessee brass on Sunday.
Cunningham is one of six candidates who reached the second round, which also includes Buffalo Bills director of player personnel Terrance Gray, Tampa Bay Buccaneers assistant general manager John Skytek, Chiefs assistant general manager of Kansas City, Mike Borgonzi, Indianapolis Colts assistant general manager Ed Dodds and Green. Jon-Eric Sullivan, Bay Packers vice president of player personnel.
Cunningham has been with the Bears since 2022, and he has now been interviewed for general manager vacancies for the past three offseasons. This includes last year, when he was passed over for Washington Commanders football operations manager jobwhich went to Adam Peters. Cunningham was a finalist for the Titans job in 2023, which went to Ran Carthon who was just fired and reportedly turned down the Arizona Cardinals job in 2023.
If Cunningham leaves for a general manager job, the Bears will get two third-round picks in the next two NFL Drafts (2025, 2026). But they would also lose a significant part of their front office and the right arm of Ryan Poles.
