THE Giants enter the 2025 NFL Draft with the third overall pick.
After a 3-14 season, how will New York use its first-round selection?
Here’s what the experts are asking of the Giants.
QB Cam Ward, Miami (via trade with Tennessee Titans up to No. 1)
We all witnessed in “Hard Knocks” how Giants general manager Joe Schoen tried to go up to select Drake Maye last year. This time, he makes no mistake in acquiring the quarterback he wants.
QB Shedeur Sanders, Colorado (via trade to Cleveland Browns up to No. 2)
general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll are warned. Co-owner Jean Mara made this very clear during his post-season meeting with the media. He also stressed the need for a franchise quarterback. The only way to guarantee this: trade.
It’s possible this pick isn’t even for sale. The Browns announced the day after their season ended that there had been a setback with Deshaun WatsonIt’s Achilles. His status for next season is uncertain. If that’s the case, they could sit here and take Sanders away themselves. The Giants’ offer, however, is too good to pass up.
New York sends Cleveland No. 3 and a third-round pick in this draft, then their first-round pick next year.
CB/WR Travis Hunter, Colorado
If the Giants aren’t able to replace Ward, would they like Shedeur Sanders enough to draft him at No. 3? In this scenario, they don’t and instead go for arguably the best player in the draft. Hunter would give New York an upgrade at corner — and he’d be a fun weapon for Brian Daboll to mix in with the Giants’ to-be-determined quarterback offense.
EDGE Abdul Carter, Penn State
Carter is a completely dominant edge rusher. He is the best in the draft. Of course, the Giants already Brian Brule And Kayvon Thibodeauxbut can you make a good tackle here? They would love to trade down, but who is going up?
QB Shedeur Sanders, Colorado
The Giants can take advantage of the fact that the Titans and Browns are not ideal preferences for Deion Sanders‘ son. Shedeur can give them precise and accurate passes to fit well with Brian Daboll while working with young playmakers such as Malik Nabers, Wan’Dale Robinson, Tyrone Tracy Jr.And Theo Johnson.
CB/WR Travis Hunter, Colorado
The Giants stupidly managed to force their way against a quarterback, but maybe that just means they’ll tank for Arch Manningas seen in my 2026 NFL Mock Draft. In the meantime, New York needs to draft the best player available.
Travis Hunter has incredible athleticism and plus size. He is an elite talent as both a cornerback and a receiver.
