Carolina Panthers Running back Jonathon Brooks is back on the comeback trail.
According to Joe Person of AthleticsBrooks suffered a “successful“ACL surgery on his right knee last week. The procedure was the second in as many years for the young edge rusher, who tore the same ACL in November 2023 while playing for the University of Texas.
Brooks tore the ligament in Carolina’s Week 14 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, just the third NFL game for the 2024 second-round pick. He had missed the first 10 outings of the campaign in reason for his healing from the first tear.
The 21-year-old opened up about the same devastating setback shortly after his rookie season ended.
“It happened during the cup. . . I don’t know, it just happened,” Brooks said on Dec. 12, four days after the injury. “I didn’t think, from the start, that this would have happened. But it is.
“There’s nothing you can do looking back on it, so I look forward and I know God just has a bigger situation for me.”
In his three appearances, Brooks totaled 22 rushing yards on nine carries and 23 receiving yards on three catches.
