Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Khalil Mack to play in 2025 season, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. After three seasons with the Chargers, he is set to become a free agent.

After the Chargers lost to the Houston Texans in the wild-card round on Jan. 11, Mack, 33, said he would take some time to decide his future. Apparently, he decided he still had some football left to play.

Mack played in at least 16 games in each of his three seasons with the Chargers and finished the 2024 season with six sacks, up from 17 in 2023. Still, he will be one of the most coveted defensive players on the free side. agent market.

Would he return to the Chargers? Here is what he said January 12:

“As long as Justin Herbert is your quarterback. You have [safety] Derwin James and all these guys who love football. And Jim Harbaugh as coach? You know you always have a chance to win. Yeah, that’s a no-brainer.”

Mack was named to nine Pro Bowls during his 11-year career, which also included stints with the Oakland Raiders and Chicago Bears. The Bears traded Mack to the Chargers before the 2022 season. In 2016, Mack’s third season in the NFL, he was named Defensive Player of the Year.
