One of the coaches of Arizona CardinalsThe staff is under consideration for an offensive coordinator position with another team. According to Jonathan Jones of CBS SportsThe Chicago Bears have requested an interview with Cardinals quarterbacks coach Israel Woolfork for their vacant offensive coordinator position.
The Bears have named former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson their new head coach.
Woolfork has been the Cardinals’ quarterbacks coach the past two seasons. For the previous two years, he worked with Cardinals offensive coordinator Drew Petzing on the Cleveland Browns staff under Kevin Stefanski. He was part of the offensive team on two practice scholarships.
Petzing actually interviewed for the position Johnson got.
Woolfork is considered an up-and-coming coach in the league. His work with Kyler Murray over the past two seasons makes him an intriguing pick for the Bears, as does Caleb Williams, who just finished his rookie season as the No. 1 pick in last year’s draft.
This is a development that we will pay attention to.
