Houston’s Texans could repair the game of passes by signing this free agent

The Houston Texans are entering the next NFL offset with a few things that must be corrected. One of these areas arrives in the game of passes.

CJ Stroud is one of the best young quarters of the NFL. He suffered a season in 2024, but it had a lot to do with injuries and the lack of weapons to throw.

In front of the offseason, there are a lot of weapons that the Texans could target to bring for Stroud.

Looking at the market, there is a name that stands out as a perfect target for Houston. Stefon Diggs could end up being brought back, but there is another wide receiver that Texans should continue.

Chris Godwin could be the corrective that Houston’s offensive needs. They need a wide range of high -level possession that can open at will, make short captures and be an explosive playmaker.

Throughout his career with Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Godwin was this kind of player.

While Godwin was overshadowed by Mike Evans, he is a legitimate target. He returns from a fairly serious injury, but he will return 100% at the start of the 2025 season.

In just seven games during the 2024 season, Godwin accumulated 50 receptions for 576 yards and five affected. During his three previous seasons, he recorded more than 1,000 reception yards in each of them and experienced seasons of 98, 104 and 83 captures respectively.

At 28 and being 29 in February, Godwin still has a lot of time playing at a very high level.

Bringing him on board would give Stroud the possession of an elite he needs. Godwin is also more than capable of playing games on the ground when called.

It will not become inexpensive, but the Texans should go next to try to get it on board.

Admittedly, the offensive line needs help and defense could use more depth, but Godwin could legitimately repair the game of passes. Tank Dell should be healthy, which could make Houston sign or write a second wide receiver, but Houston would be in an ideal place with Godwin as their wide-out n ° 1.
