Jacksonville, Florida – Jaguars head coach, Liam Coen, hired Anthony Campanile, coordinator of the Green Bay Packers’ seconds match, to be the team’s defensive coordinator.
“Anthony Campanile represents exactly what we want to be as a defensive unit and football team,” Coen said in a statement. “It brings an aggressive defensive state of mind and a system adaptable to our players and allows them to play quickly and physical.”
In addition to Campanile, Coen interviewed the defensive coordinator of Las Vegas Patrick Graham, the game coordinator of Minnesota Pass / Daronte Jones defensive back coach and the coordinator of the assistant game of Los Angeles Rams / Chief coach Aubrey Pleasant.
Campanile, 42, has spent the last five seasons as an assistant NFL coach, first with the Miami dolphins as a second-time coach (2020-23), then with the packers last season.
The packers ranked seventh in the NFL in defense precipitated at 99.4 yards per match authorized and third of the league in yards by race (4.0) last season. In the four seasons of Campanile in Miami, the Dolphins granted an average of 4.2 yards per race (10th in the NFL) and 106.4 yards per match per match, the sixth best brand of this period.
Campanile has spent six seasons as a high school coach in New Jersey, including five seasons to Don Bosco Prep – three as a defensive coordinator, two as an offensive coordinator – before joining Rutgers as a defensive assistant in 2012. He also led to tight ends and recipients in his four seasons in Rutgers.
Campanile also spent three seasons at Boston College (2016-18) and one in Michigan before joining Brian Flores staff from Miami Dolphins.
