Drake Maye drew the attention of those around the NFL throughout his recruit season with the New England Patriots.
And he can now add a quarter of the reputation temple to this list.
Peyton Manning, who was the AFC coach this year for Pro Bowl Games, Disady Maye – who was appointed to his first pro Bowl in place of Buffalo Bills Qb Josh Allen.
“Drake, he is very responsible. When things go well, you see him give credit to his receivers and lines. When things are not going well, you see him start with himself, ” Manning told journalists. “He potentially launched the winning touch and did not have the conversion to two points. You heard it – that’s all he talked about was the one he had not obtained. So I like it. I like guys who are honest and who do not try to hide. And he owns it.
Maye was often congratulated for having said the right things after each loss and was greeted for the way he managed despite a brutal campaign of 4-13.
“You can say that he is a natural leader. And then when you watch him throw … his arm jumps on it, then his athletic capacity, ” Manning said. “And the fact that he was able to play as much as a recruit. I think all these things will serve him well.
The UNC product was a bright point during an ugly 2024 season which ended with Jerod Mayo being fired 90 minutes after the victory of the week 18 of the Patriots over the Bills.
Now, with Mike Truebel in the fold as a coach and Josh McDaniels as an offensive coordinator, Maye is looking to take a big step in the 2nd year while the Patriots enter a new era in Foxborough.
