The dolphins of Miami overall have had a solid season in defense, highlighted by finishing fourth in authorized yards, but everything was not perfect.

As mentioned above, the lack of take -out dishes and bags was problems, but there was also another area where the team fought. It is a more difficult area to quantify unless the analysis is involved.

This problem was to tackle and the good people of NFL.com analyzed all the teams in this department through Nextgen statistics. And research brought the dolphins to number 28 among the 32 teams in terms of fighting efficiency. The dolphins received a note D to tackle them.

“The dolphin season could be better described as disappointing, and their difficulties were no exception,” wrote NFL.com. “Miami’s defense missed plated at the fourth highest rate in the league (14.5%) while granting the fifth additional yards after these failures (1,019). An alarming 10 dolphin defenders made 50 yards or More after the missed plates, a total exceeded the panthers (11).

Long not only was cut, it was cut after starting the season as a starter and team captain, then restored.

According to the own pro–protball-reference.com analysis statistics, the Dolphins did not have a player among the first 45 of the NFL in failed tackle percentage. The players with the highest percentage, by PFR, were the defensive line Calais Campbell and the second Chop Robinson at 16.1%.

Long was 15.1%, by PFR, during his eight games with the Dolphins and five with the Lions of Detroit combined.
