Houston’s Texans have had a solid 2024 season. However, many fans may have the impression that Texans have not met expectations. Houston finished the regular season 10-7, winning the title of the southern AFC division and making the playoffs for the second consecutive season.

However, before the 2024 season, many fans and analysts thought that the Texans would win more matches. There was a general conviction that the Texans were finally ready to jump forward and become one of the best AFC teams. Unfortunately, things did not take place in themselves in 2024.

CJ Stroud could not reproduce his impressive recruit season. The Texans also treated multiple attacks in attack, losing Stefon Diggs for the season and missing Nico Collins for several weeks.

Now, the Texans must pick up the pieces and start approaching what was wrong in 2024. It will be much easier to say than to do.

Houston enters the off -season With only $ 5 million in ceiling space. Texans cannot bring a new draft class, and add free agents, with such a small amount of room for maneuver. It is almost certain that Houston will restructure a few contracts, and perhaps cutting a few players, to eliminate enough hood space to make some movements.

Despite this, the Texans will not be big expenditure this offseason. They just can’t afford to be. Consequently, the Texans could end up shopping for negotiations during the NFL Free Agency in March.

But what players could they continue realistically?

Below, we will explore three good agents without sly NFL that the Texans need to consider signing in 2025 NFL Free Agency.

Brandon Powell could be a productive depth piece for Houston

Powell directs our list of free business agents.

The best season of Powell arrived in 2023 with the Vikings. Powell has become a competent receiver in attack in addition to his special roles.

In 2023, Powell transported 29 receptions for 324 yards and a touchdown. These are not showy numbers, but they suggest that Powell can be a receiver capable in attack.

Powell’s ability to contribute to special and attack teams should make it attractive for a team like Texans. Houston could obtain production in several phases of the game by signing a single free agent.

Powell also projects as a very affordable free agent. Spotrac believes he’s going Order only $ 1.5 million per season in free agency.

Texans must seriously consider adding Powell to a one -year contract.

Texans could use someone as Royce Newman as inner line depth

Houston has a lot of needs on the offensive line during the offseason. Texans have a few holes to fill and must also start thinking about the future.

Veterans starters like Laremy Tunsil, TyWard and Shaquille Mason are not long -term solutions to their respective positions. Consequently, the Texans will likely spend some draft choices to offensive line players that they can develop during the 2025 season.

This may not be enough to make sure that CJ Stroud is sufficiently protected.

This is where someone like Royce Newman enters. Newman spent the first three years of his career with packers, although his role has slowly decreased each season. Newman spent the 2024 season in Tampa Bay, but only played three shots all season.

Newman should be an attractive free agent for Houston for several reasons. First of all, it has a flexibility of position which makes it precious as a backup. He started his career in the right guard, but spent a little time on the left guard and the right tackle. The ability to fill almost all positions on line O makes it more precious than other offensive line players.

Newman should also be quite affordable. Spotrac projects that Newman should order less than $ 1.5 million per seasonWho is a good deal for a veteran offensive line player.

Newman could be an excellent depth piece for Houston on a one -year contract.

TJ Slaton would be an excellent addition to line D of Texans

TJ Slaton is perhaps the only player on this list which is worth providing a multi-year contract.

Slaton is a Plug-And-Play defensive tackle which has the best type of capacity-availability. He started in the 17 games in each of his fourth seasons in Green Bay.

Slaton may not be a splashing player, but he does the job and is a coherent player. Fortunately, all the Texans really need inside the defensive line.

A player like Slaton is a good adjustment to Houston because he can require enough attention to create top-to-head matches for Danielle Hunter and Will Anderson Jr. outside. He is also a big race defender.

Slaton should order Just under $ 4 million per season on the free market. If the Texans want to bring it on a multi -year contract, they can structure this contract to create a little ceiling in 2025 as possible.

Slaton is only 27 years old, he will be 28 years old in October and he remains several seasons of solid production.

Texans’ fans should not be surprised if Slaton is a priority free agent for Houston.
