For a team that has just set franchise records for victories (15) and the points scored (564) in a season and have not changed head coaches, the Detroit lions have already had charged off-season.
With this success, the opposing teams began to poach the talents of Detroit, starting with the offensive coordinator Ben Johnson (now the chicago Bears head coach) and the defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn (now the head coach of New York Jets).
Lions will also have more than 30 players becoming free agents next month. Most will have the opportunity to join another team, because only four should be exclusive free agents. Among these more than 30 free agents, the Carlton Davis corner half will be without restriction and Sporting News, Vinnie Iyer, predicts that he will end up with the Los Angeles loaders.
“The charges must go from Kristian Fulton, and Davis would be the great ideal target to put in the plan of Jesse Minter,” wrote Iyer.
Davis, 28, played his university ball in Auburn of 2015-2017, where he won the Honnets All-Sec and All-American in his last season. The Buccaneers of Tampa Bay took him to the second round of the 2018 NFL draft, and he won departure representatives immediately.
For Tampa Bay, Davis recorded 324 plated (12 for a loss), 73 defensive assists, nine interceptions, four escaped escaped and three forced escapes. He also helped the franchise to win his second Super Bowl in their history.
The Lions added Davis (as well as a pair of choice of day 3) in a last business off -season. In 13 games last year, he played 83% of the defensive shots and recorded 56 plated (two for a defeat), 11 defended passes, two interceptions, two escaped escaped and a forced escape.
Although this is a victory for the charge, losing Davis would be a blow for a defense of the Lions which has already fought against the pass last season, granting 247.1 yards per match (second in the NFL).
Detroit may need to completely revise their secondary, with Davis, Ifeatu Melifonwu, Kindle Vildor, Emmanuel Moseley and Khalil Dorsey who all strike the market. With more than $ 50 million in ceiling space, Lions can and must contact the group with veteran additions.
