Losing Trey Smith at the chief’s franchise label is not ideal for bears

THE Chicago Bears are about to enter the “construction of alignment” part of the offseason with the free agency and the draft of the NFL 2025 on the bridge. They have a new head coach to Ben Johnson, his staff are in place and the franchise is ready to go forward after a disappointing season 5-12.

The n ° 1 choice of last year, Caleb Williams, hopes to become the quarter of the franchise that the Bears have spent decades to seek. He had a recruited season from top to bottom, but he had a solid year despite chaotic circumstances.

The key to Williams doing another step forward is to contact the offensive line after having dismissed the League summit 68 times last season. There is a good chance that the Bears will use the 10th choice in total in the draft on a good offensive line player, but that cannot stop there. Additional resources on capital and the free agent must be used to solve this problem.

Unfortunately, Chicago can cross Trey Smith on their list Chiefs of Kansas City should place the franchise label on him and prevent him from exploring the market for free agents.

Since arriving at the NFL, Smith has been a high -level line player and has paid as such an offseason. There would have been a lot of competition to sign it, but the Bears had what it took to conclude an agreement if they wanted to go big on a contract for someone from their caliber to this position.

If you are going to hire large training, you must be ready to shop in the upper shelf regarding players. Now that they will not sign Smith, they have to rotate a new plan.

The only need for the team that corresponds to that of the offensive line is the defensive line. The only difference is that the defensive line does not exist to protect the precious possession of the organization in Williams. Although the organization focuses on improving the two, the offensive side must take up the number one priority.

So who can they consider? Well, the draft of the NFL 2025 is responsible for talented offensive line players and the Bears are starting to look at them in the first round. There are not many line players in a free agency who bring what Smith does, but there are a lot of available things that would be an upgrade on what Chicago had.

All this should mean with Ryan Polon, Ben Johnson, and the staff in place, is that they have to work even harder to find good replacements in this group of posts. If they don’t, Williams will find it difficult to continue to develop.
