Indianapolis – If you want an idea of what Eagles Think of the tight winger Dallas Goedert, you have to return to 2018 when the Eagles drafted him.
At the time, the Eagles had the 32nd and last choice in the first round of the NFL draft which won a victory for the Super Bowl, as this year.
They had an end -starry in Zach Ertz, who was at the top of his game. In fact, the season that the Eagles repeated Goedert, Ertz set an NFL record for receptions by a tight end in a season with 116.
Ertz, 34, had 66 captures last season for the Washington Commanders.

Goenert is still considered an end of the elite, despite seven missing games last season with hamstrings and knee injuries.
The injuries are not the reason why the Eagles must plan the possible replacement of Goedert using a first -round choice, and most likely their first -round choice, on a tight side.
There are rather several other factors to consider. And no, the Eagles will probably not be able to write Tyler Warren from Penn State, which is considered a choice among the first 10, and should be taken long before the Eagles chain.
The Eagles could however go after the Michigan collaboration loveland, or Mason Taylor of LSU, whose line includes both his father and his uncle who are the temple of professional football renowned, Jason Taylor and the second Zach Thomas, respectively.
The other possibilities include Harold Fannin Jr. from Bowling Green, who directed all the FBS receivers (including wide receivers) during receptions with 117 and yards with 1,555, and the Texas Barnar.
The four should take place in the first round or in the second round of the NFL draft, from April 24 to 26.
The question, of course, is why the Eagles would use a choice of first or second round on a tight end while they would already have godeder under contract for 2025, as well as the wide receivers of Star Aj Brown and Devonta Smith, not to mention the Saquon Barkley ball carrier with the quarterrier Jalen injuring all this?

Here is why: Goenert is entering the last season of his $ 57 million agreement over four years.
It has $ 11.8 million against the salary ceiling in 2025. This ceiling reached balloons at 23.8 million dollars in 2026 (its agreement is not guaranteed in 2026).
Of course, the Eagles could try to exchange Goedert. But the most likely itinerary is to try to restructure the GoedEder contract. This would allow the Eagles to earn money on the ceiling this season to come, while guaranteeing the GOEDERT contract for 2026 and perhaps 2027.
In this scenario, a new tight end can learn and develop while serving as a tight end, just as Goedert did with Ertz from 2018 until the Eagles exchanged Ertz in Arizona in October 2021.
And the way Eagles coach Nick Sirianni sees it, you can never have too many offensive weapons.
“When you build a tight piece room, it’s a bit similar to what you build a large receiver room,” said Sirianni during the NFL combination. “You look at him as a basketball team; you don’t want all guards … as a group, as a whole, do they provide everything you need?”
This is where someone like Loveland, for example, can complement Goedert’s ability as a receiver and blocker, then finally take over in a year or two.
Loveland spoke to the combine harvester Thursday with her right arm in a scarf, the result of a recent shoulder surgery.
This injury could drop Loveland into the Eagles chain in the first round, although Loveland said that he would be authorized to participate fully by the training camp at the end of July.
As for his forces, Loveland said: “My fluidity, my itinerary, my knowledge of the game and my hands.”
The same goes for Taylor, who is considered a second round choice. The choice of Eagles last in this round with the 64th choice.

“It’s just the tight end work; that does everything,” said Taylor. “You are in a way the black horse of the offensive, do everything behind the scenes and also catch the ball. This is something I love. Sometimes you are not going to have games where you catch 10 balls and have 100 reception yards.
“So it’s just this team player to help in the race game, and in the protection match of 7 men to help push our receivers on the field.”
You may have noticed that GOEDERT and BACKUP Grant Calcaterra, who is also starting the last year of his contract, did it last season. They helped block for Barkley, who ran for 2,005 yards; helped protect injuries; And helped broadcast the ground for Brown and Smith.
And they also caught passes. GOEDERT achieved 42 catches for 496 yards in 10 games. During a full season of 17 games, which projects 71 catches for 843 yards.
It is the new breed of a tight end, something that Warren and the other tight ends in the draft embody.
“I think I can do a lot of different things,” said Warren. “So, whatever the offense from week to week, and what they want my role to be is what I will do. And that could change the game to the other.”
This brings us back to 2018, when Goenert was drafted with Ertz at its peak.
The Eagles actually exchanged the first round with the Baltimore RavensWho used the choice to write the quarter-arre Lamar Jackson. It worked well for the Ravens because Jackson was named MVP of the League twice.
But that also worked well for the Eagles, who received a second round choice, which they then exchanged to mount three places against Goedert. They also received a choice of fourth round, which they used on the defensive back Avonte Maddox, a full -time starter who has just finished his seventh season in Philly.
And they also obtained a second round choice in 2019 that the Eagles used on the Ballon Miles Sanders bearer, which rushed to 1,269 yards in 2022, when the Eagles also went to the Super Bowl.
It worked so well for the Eagles that they could try again.
