Which colt player could use a “landscape change” in 2025?

Which Indianapolis colts Could the player benefit from a “change of decor” in 2025?

Espn NFL Nation journalists recently answered this question for each of their respective teams. Regarding Foal,, Stephen Holder The quarter-Arrière selected Sam Ehlinger.

“Ehlinger is entering the free agency for the first time, but only started three games in his career,” wrote Holder. “The colts did not give him a blow to be more than QB n ° 3 in each of the last two seasons, and it is possible that it is the appropriate approach. But is there a team that could give it a chance to be a main safeguard?”

Ehlinger appeared in eight games – but only once since 2022 – and he has only three departures. As Holder notes, he has not even had the opportunity to compete for the role of safeguard in recent years, the team adding Anthony Richardson in the 2023 draft, then signed Gardner Minshew in free referee this same offseason, followed by Joe Flacco in 2024.

Even this offseason, while the colts seek to add competition in the quarter-tree for Anthony Richardson, which does it, anything but Ehlinger in the role of QB3 once again.

As I pointed out in my Free agency prediction seriesI guess the colts would like to go up. It strengthens the back of the depth table, it has experience in the system and a close relationship with Richardson.

At the end of last season, director general Chris Ballard told Athletic that Ehlinger was one of the “strongest voices” in the corner of Richardson when he was a bench. With the colts who still wanted Richardson to be the quarter-Arrière guy, I think there is the value to have the presence of Ehlinger and this relationship on the list.

Of course, Ehlinger being the third quarter can be justified, but for a player who has been in the NFL for four seasons now, he would perhaps like to test the market for free agents and see if there is an opportunity to gain the role of safeguard elsewhere.

“Ehlinger has traveled a long way since he entered the league in 2021, undersized and with a questionable arm force,” added Holder. “But he is a diligent worker and has improved considerably, even if he does not have the tools of some Talently QB in the League.”
