Could the patriots bring back an old friend this offseason in order to give Drake Maye a reliable threat and hung in 2025?
While the patriots could pursue professions against star players such as DK Metcalf or Cooper Kupp, the former Jakobi Meyers of the New England, the former Wideout, could hold a lot of time given his familiarity in Foxborough and his reputation as a regular slot to move the chains.
And with Josh McDaniels now in New England as the team’s offensive coordinator and raiders in a transitional state in the middle of another disappointing season, Meyers could be a valid commercial target for the Patriots, according to Phil Perry of NBC Sports Boston.
“The sources of industry believe that a former student (Josh) McDaniels in New England and Las Vegas, Jakobi Meyers, could also be an option via trade. He entered the last year of his agreement with the Raiders, ” Perry wrote on Monday.
Meyers may not have the same flash and the same ceiling of a Higgins or a metalf. But the 28-year-old is hosted on a missing New England list in terms of coherent game leaders.
New England’s decision to allow Meyers to walk via a free agency in 2023 has seriously returned against him-in particular with the team replacement at Juju Smith-Schuster only from an unproductive season in Foxborough.
While Smith-Schuster ignited in New England, Meyers won 158 catches for 1,834 yards and 12 affected in his first two seasons with Las Vegas.
Despite an impressive QB group of Gardner Minshew, Aidan O’Connell and Desmond Ridder launching him in 2024, Meyers always accumulated 1,027 reception yards last season. New England did not have a wide receiver exceeding 1,000 yards during a season for Julian Edelman in 2019.
Even if Meyers is perhaps not the n ° 1 of New England desperately needed, taking it on board as a road runner and reliable secondary option would be a solid pickup for a team of patriots who must surround Maye with talents in the future.
