The charges cut 5 times the player of Bowler Joey Bosa, could the saints DC Brandon Staley recruit him?

THE Los Angeles Chargers Announced on Wednesday evening that they released Joey Bosa, the secondary outside the pro Bowl and the former third choice of global recovery. Bosa’s performance took place while injuries have wreaked havoc in recent years, limiting it to only 28 of the last 51 chargeers. Now he is 29 years old and a free agent for the first time in his career.

Could a meeting with his former coach Brandon Staley make sense? Staley inherited a Holy Defense short on talent, and with a movement of a 3-4 base in preparation, he will need a new staff to see him. We will arrive at money in a second, but there are a few reasons why New Orleans plans Bosa beyond the program.

On the one hand, reporting it would not have an impact on the compensatory recovery choice formula. Only players whose contracts have expired (instead of being terminated) participate. Let’s say that the saints lose Chase Young in another team but sign Bosa. They could always recover a choice for Young in 2026. If they sigated another free agent who had not been released instead of Bosa, this may not be the case. They need as many choices as possible and must act as a free agency.

The other thing to consider is the state of their defensive line. Young, Payton Turner and Tanoh Kpassagnon are all free agents next week. This leaves Cameron Jordan, Carl Granderson and Isaiah Foskey as the only ones to come back from the list of last season. They would need more help even if they did not change schematically. If there is a chance that Bosa can have – and stay healthy, he could be the one who will take Jordan’s torch once he will call him a career.

So what about money? You should think that it would be difficult for Bosa to find something close to what the charges refused to pay him, which included a basic salary of $ 13 million and a bonus of $ 12.36 million. At least not on a multi -year agreement. If the saints could conclude another creative contract as they did with Young (which ended up being a one -year agreement, $ 13 million), they could make a competitive offer with all that Bosa is likely to find on the free market. They move quickly to go under the salary ceiling and open resources to sign free agents like Bosa.

We will see how it takes place. Bosa will not lack options. Pass rushers under 30 with 72 career bags does not often become available. The saints can look at their own injury problems and decide that it is not worth bringing someone who had trouble staying on the ground. Bosa may no longer want to play for Staley. At this point, everything we can do is speculate, but there are reasons to think that something could develop here.
