Skule, 28, was drafted by the 49ers in the sixth round of Vanderbilt in 2019. He started 12 games in his first two seasons in San Francisco, playing mainly from the left tackle, but also seeing right -wing time in 2020. He then torn his ACL in 2021, which led to a long passage on the injured reserve, and he was given the 4921 cutting. Skule quickly hung on with the buccaneers and has spent the last three seasons there.
After playing with sparing in 2022 and ’23, SKULE was called for five departures and six extended appearances last season – four in the right tackle and two in the left tackle. He resisted a safeguard in these matches, winning a note of 69.2 pff over the season, with solid brands both in the protection of the passes and the blocking of the race.
The Skule of 6’6 “and 315 pounds is a solid addition for the Vikings as their swing tackle, replacing the free agent David Quesenberry in this role. He provides insurance in case Darrisaw was not ready to start week 1 in the left tackle after tearing his ACL and MCL against Rams last October.
