Part 1 of a free agency weekend Miami Dolphins on Si Mailbag:
De Craig M:
Alain, why do you think that the Dolphins did not redo the offers for Tua and others? I have my theory but I would like to have your thoughts. Reflections on AF movements to date?
Hey Craig, this is a legitimate question because they can easily create a little space by redoing certain contracts, but it is also accompanied by the cost of more ceiling commitments on the road. And it could absolutely be that the decision was made to browse it with this nucleus but not to continue kicking at the bottom of the road, so to speak. It is not impossible either that certain transactions are redone at some point.
Of Christmas B One:
Bringing Zach Wilson does not feel like a movement improving the career. When / if it starts and absolutely confront the plants, will McDaniel and Grier be pledged? What comes down to knowing if Wilson is repairable. Do you believe it is?
Hey Christmas, a career bypass movement for whom? I think Mike McDaniel thinks he can bring Wilson to another level as a quarterrier after taking a few steps forward in Denver, according to all reports. But the reality is that Wilson has not shot in a regular season match since 2023, so there is an unknown to find out if it is really improved in the playing action. And if it goes south, the dolphins will be absolutely burnt for this. I will be carefully optimistic that it can be effective, but I should be convinced.
From you dolphins dum dum:
I just want to say thank you for making this email bag. You are the only one I know who does this. Some media members answer a few questions, but no one loves you and answers all the questions that deserve to answer. Dolphins to the opinion of this Dum Dum actually met many of their frugally needs (not the QB backup position) and with players to mitigate the lack of physics from last year. They attracted a big-hearted physical receiver, physical security, a person who moves a physical guard, a powerful Lber and a ball carrier who can move the chains in short-yarding situations. I know they are still not Philly in terms of physicity, but did they do enough to be respectable in terms of physicity?
Hey Dana, few teams are Philly in terms of physics. As for additions, Daniels is more athletic than physical. The additions of Alexander Mattison and Pharaoh Brown should absolutely help the problem of physics To a certain extent and perhaps dolphins can deliver in this area if necessary most often for a change.
By Jason Kirkland:
What’s new, Alain? Obviously, not dolphins. They will not be a legitimate competitor until they hire an elite GM. It is clear around the league; Elite GMS has elite teams. I have no idea of Liam’s signature. Do they already need PS players? Your thoughts on all.
Hey Jason, I wrote a Complete column explaining why the dolphins would like to bring back Liam And the main thing is that it is a very versatile offensive line player who can help many different positions. In fact, I think this decision is logical if the dolphins do not simply give it a position of starting guard. I would also wonder why Eichenberg would like to come back, but we are there.
From Ed Helinski:
What note do you give to the Dolphins for their first days of free agency? And why this note?
Hey ed, I think I would be inclined to go with something like a C or C + and I make allowances for the fact that the Dolphins did not have a ton of hood space and a lot of list points to fill. There are risks involved in certain choices, whether injuries or accounts on Zach Wilson to be a quarter-tree different from that of the jets. I gave the Nick Westbrook-Ikhine to sign an A, but it’s the only one that really stands out.
By Jorge Boyd:
Hi Alain, how do you assess the signing of security?
Hey Jorge, I like the two in terms of increase while understanding that we must temper our expectations for Ifeatu Olifonwu and Ashhyn Davis Due to the history of Olifonwu’s injuries and the relative inexperience of Davis on defense. In the end, I would be very surprised if the two were in the starting program for week 1, but I like the potential they could contribute to the defense.
By Jayco:
Is Tua linked to this diet? Do you see a future for him here if Ross cleanses the house after this season?
Hey Jayco, I absolutely think Tua is linked to Mike McDaniel and Chris Grier. I also think that it is very difficult to imagine that it is not on the list in 2026 now that it has a guarantee of $ 56 million, which, according to Spotrac, was triggered by the list on the third day of the League (Friday).
From me:
Liam. Eichenberg. This is the question. Thank you Alain
This is a very simple question there. Again, if the money was fair and no commitment was made to have it in the initial training, why is it so bad to bring a guy with a lot of starting experience that can anywhere on the offensive line? Dolphins could do much worse in terms of relief line player.
Justin:
I want your opinion on this. 1st Restructure Tua to save $ 19 million signs Mekhi Becton to a 49m 49m Jerome Baker panel at 1 year 1.5m (depth) Mike Hilton Sign at a 37m 37m 37m panel Julian Blackmon at 3yr 24m Draft Jahdae Barron in the first round (possible trade) Draft Oline Round
Hey Justin, I can live with Tua’s restructuring, they don’t pay much for a guard, so forget Becton. Mike Hilton is a slot corner and the dolphins already had Kader Kohou, so no. I like Barron’s idea.
De Bubba:
Have we become better? It doesn’t seem to be too early to say. Chris Grier does not try to keep his job (in my opinion) of signatures so far. Help me think the opposite.
Hé Bubba, yes, it’s too early. You can never forget the second free agency wave and we don’t know who the Dolphins could add the project either. Let’s reserve the judgment until the end of the offseason would be my suggestion.
