The New York Jets have entered this offseason with more than 30 players who should hit a free agency, and since the start of the new year of the league, they have lost a lot against new teams.
Brandin Echols, Kenny Yeboah, Wes Schweitzer, Ashtyn Davis, Solomon Thomas, Morgan Moses, Javon Kinlaw, DJ Red, Haason Reddick and Davante Adams have all found new houses, and there are many old jets in search of their next stop.
One of these players is the Tyron Smith offensive tackle, and For the recently predicted Wooded Roof of Victory This Smith will leave this off -season New York and sign with the Texans of Houston.
Smith, 34, played collegially at the USC from 2008 to 10, winning the honors of the first All-PAC-10 team and the Morris trophy (given to the best offensive and defensive line players in the conference) in its last year as a Troy.
The Dallas Cowboys selected Smith with the ninth choice in total in the first round of the 2011 NFL draft, and he played 13 major seasons for the team, winning eight pro Bowl selections and five All-Pro nominations while playing and starting 161 games.
Last off -season, Smith signed a one -year contract worth $ 20 million with jets. He then started 10 games in the left tackle for New York before a neck injury cost him the remaining seven games of the season.
For its performance, Professional football focus gave him an overall note of 73.7, ranking him 30th among 141 plated qualified from the NFL in 2024. He also received a blocking note of 72.3 (45th) and a blocking note of 72.4 (27th).
If the jets lose Smith, they will have lost their two offensive start -ups of last year, and they do not yet have a lot of plan to replace them. They should prioritize the two spots either in these late agency waves or in the project.
Houston would benefit from the addition of Smith because they exchanged Cornerstone who attack Laremy Tunsil to Washington Commanders last week. Although Smith had his health problems, he was strong when available, and although he is probably not a long -term response, he could certainly help CJ Stroud in 2025.
