The New York Jets have already signed a former member of the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason. What about adding another?
The former Steelers Pro Diontae Johnson’s Bowler is available on the free market after an odd year with the Carolina Panthers, Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans. He was great with Carolina with 30 catches, 357 yards and three affected in seven games. He had only three captures in total in five games with the Texans and the Ravens.
Things did not work with Houston and Baltimore and now it is available on the free market. Johnson was a professional bowling player in 2021 with Pittsburgh with 107 catches and 1,161 reception yards. He also had eight touched that year.
Johnson had 700 reception yards or over four times with Pittsburgh. It was a strange year for Johnson in 2024, but he was about to set up a solid number before being exchanged by Caroline.
He is only 28 years old now and should land a One -year agreement worth more than $ 3.5 million. It is absolutely affordable for New York. Johnson looked like one of the best candidates in the League trade last year, but was now forgotten. The addition of a cheap contract like this would not harm the jet budget, but it could add an important advantage to the receiver room.
New York must add another receiver with Garrett Wilson and Johnson could be a cheap adjustment with the Large 2 receiver. Johnson and Fields did not play Pittsburgh together, but maybe New York could bring both of them.
