It is possible for an outside player of FBS, the one who has not even played football until his high school junior year, to go to the NFL draft.
It happens all the time, above all, it seems to be bears.
Otherwise 37 scouts of 29 NFL teams Probably posed their time last week at William & Mary day watching the Charles Grant tackle.
Bears’ offensive line coach Dan Roushar was among the people present to watch a player who had focused on the fight in high school, but who then started playing football his junior year.
Grant is considered on the large NFL Mock Draft Data Big Board card as a choice of end -of -day 2 and the Bears have a choice of third round, but no fourth round. Their choice of Tour 3 is a little earlier than some of the rankings that the subsidy has on large boards. It was put in the 90s but the Bears chose the 72nd.
William & Mary Ol Charles Grant is one of my favorite players to look in the NFL 2025 draft.
Grant arrived at university at 240 pounds. And just started playing football as a junior in high school.
His athletics is clear on the film. He will make a show at the NFL combination. 👀 pic.twitter.com/etzre7yoco

A team that took him would obtain a 6 -foot 5 inches and 311 pounds with 34 arms 3/4 to 9 inches, capable of playing in the left tackle but also of guard.
His wrestling experience had an impact on his game, especially in a blocking scheme.
#Lions Coach Dan Campbell asked William and Mary Ot Charles Grant what the grain means for him.

“I would say that the WID zone, being placed in the large area,” he told Combine Reporters. “I can really tighten my body and throw a guy on the ground and finish it from there.”
As a player of an FCS program, Grant knows what is not to be under the spotlight. He felt this kind of thing a little out of high school, after having less football experience than the others and was not strongly recruited. Now he has a ton of gratitude for his school.

“It means a lot honestly,” he said. “So William and Mary, they took a hit on me when they left the school. I really didn’t know but they really helped me develop.
“And I’m just happy to be able to put them on the card and let people know that there are players anywhere. Anyone.”
Maybe not these bear, but the previous versions knew everything about William & Mary football. This is where DHC, the former ACE Security and the special teams Deandre Houston-Carson played.
#Williamandmary OT Charles Grant reached 20 rehearsals of 225 during his professional day!
He’s a big boy! With long arms, it’s impressive. He had 35 -inch arms to the senior Bowl! #Nfldraft

Bears coach Ben Johnson also knows everything about it.
While he was an offensive coordinator of the Lions in 2023, Detroit repeated one of the former Grant teammates. Line player William & Mary Colby SORSDAL was a Grant teammate. He went to Tour 5 in Detroit and started three games as a safeguard of his recruit year in Johnson’s offensive. He is still with Lions as a backup.
The need of the Bears in Tackle is someone to be ready for 2026 in case they cannot keep the Braxton Jones left platform in free agency. However, they could also use a caretaker in the draft to prepare in case they lose Joe Thuney in 2026 free agency.

They already have an internal candidate in Tackle and he is also from a team from the FCS, Yale. It’s Kiran Amegadjie.
Jones, himself, played for the FCS school: southern Utah.
Is it a trend that develops? The day of the draft will reveal more.
