Indianapolis (Wish) – After last season, the owner of the Indianapolis colts, Jim Irsay, announced that the director general Chris Ballard would return for a ninth season with the franchise, although the team has not made the qualifying series since the 2020-21 season.
The NFL analyst Chris Simms was not surprised by the movement.
“Am I really surprised? No,” said Simms. “I am still that Chris Ballard is one of the best GMs in sport. I think if you look at your team, there are a lot to love about it. You are close. And I suppose that there is also a part of me that gives them a little, I do not want to say a free pass, but I feel them because luck and luck and a total chance were a total organization, change the trajectory of everything forever. “
Simms, a former quarter of the NFL, thinks that the colts are about to make the playoffs and that the colts will make the appropriate modifications during the offseason.
The colts have already met some of their needs, adding the Charvarius Ward corner half and the Camryn bynum security in free agency to help secondary. They also signed Daniel Jones to compete with Anthony Richardson for the starting quarter-back post.
Simms praised Lou Anarumo’s addition as a new defensive colt coordinator. He thinks that Anarumo and the Colts head coach, Shane Steichen, will throw himself well.
“I thought that making the change in the defensive coordinator was essential,” said Simms.
As for Richardson, Simms said he loved his talent and his competitive fire. He said Richardson must improve a coherent passer, especially in the short and intermediate game.
But above all, Richardson must remain healthy.
“He has to play,” said Simms. “He must stay on the field. From everything I know, he took his bench very well. I think he realized that you must be more professional. You must be more detailed. When you play quarterrière in the NFL, there are no days off.”
He also thinks that the wide Alec Pierce and Michael Pittman Jr. receptors are underestimated pieces that have the potential to have major impacts in the future.
“I don’t look at him and I’m going to oh, there are holes everywhere,” said Simms. “I am leaving, there are a few holes here and here, but I think they have already understood a lot of difficult things.”
