A black horse for the Carolina Panthers“The choice of the 1st round of the NFL 2025 draft may have just made a descent into the section.
On Wednesday, or “NFL Draft Eve” for those who celebrate, two league initiates established the potentially intriguing link between the panthers and the defensive line of the University of Mississippi, Walter Nolen.
Speculations began with Todd Mcshay, who projected the All-American consensus in 2024 in Caroline and the eighth choice in total in his choice Last simulation project. He writes:
A reliable source tells me that Carolina seeks to exchange and could take less value to do so. If Jeanty is still on the board, it could be the place where Denver moves to do so. But if the Panthers cannot move and with Disappeared Walker, I think that will come back to Nolen, Shemar Stewart, Mykel Williams or Tetairoa McMillan here.
A few hours later, Matt Miller d’Espn – in his last set of first -round projections – was the same:
Nolen was a rising column in red in the days preceding the draft as a panthers, 49ers and Cowboys were all connected to him by scouts. Smoke screen? Perhaps, but a chatter connecting Carolina to Nolen was crawling on Wednesday.
The first favorite of the Panthers and their first selection were the secondary of the University of Georgia, Milk Walker. They were also connected to his teammate and his colleague Defender Edge Mykel Williams, to the University of Michigan’s defensive player, Mason Graham, and to the receiver of the University of Arizona, Tetairoa McMillan.
While Nolen’s name had been thrown into the panthers in a few first simulated projects, the 6 feet 4 inch and 296 pounds had not been much linked to Carolina, or not at all in the recent accumulation before Wednesday.
As Miller noted, chatter could simply be a smoke screen. But if this is not the case, Nolen – who has a little advantage as a rusher of passes and a racing cap – can be a hell of a good choice for a team whose defensive line was their main weakness in 2024.
