The Vikings added 25 recruits to their list last weekend, making five selections in the draft and signing 20 unrelated players – several of which are intriguing – to complete their off -season list. They currently have 89 players, including an Australian bettor who will not count for the limit of 90 men. This leaves two stains open for the moment.
With the current off-season program and the minicamp recruit to come on weekends after this one, it looks like a good time to position by position and project what the updated depth of the minnesota could look like. This should help you have an idea of certain position battles to watch and the sleepers to keep an eye. The projected starters are in bold.
McCarthy is very clearly the guy of the Vikings, which is exciting. Howell, acquired on Saturday, looks like a solid backup solution. He has a full season of NFL starting experience and is probably a better version of Nick Mullens as Gunslinger with turnover problems. The only question here is whether Brosmer, the non -drained recruit of Minnesota, has the possibility of overthrowing Rypian for QB3 work. Even if he does not do so, he could remain as a fourth guy in development in the fall.
The Jones and Mason Punch 1-2 in the rear field should be quite fun to watch this season, especially behind the alternated offensive line of the Vikings. It will probably be a kind of 1A / 1B dynamic, promoting Jones, unless production or health dictates otherwise. It was a bit interesting that the Vikings did not write a ball carrier to push Chandler for the RB3 role, in particular with Jones being 31 years old in December. They signed Stewart, which is a long -term shot that recalls the seventh round in 2023, Dewayne McBride (small RB school with extreme production but questionable physical features).
Felton, the choice of third round of the Vikings, could potentially push Nailor for WR3 work, but it seems unlikely to win this battle. The most likely result for Felton would seem to start with WR4 or WR5, immediately contributing to special teams, then in a larger role in 2026 once Nailor is out of the table. Jones seems likely to do so because of its blocking capacity. Moore, who always recovered from an LCA injury, is to start the year on the list of puppies.
Beyond these six, you have three guys from the Return training team and four new unrelated players. The one I consider to be the best chance of making the list of 53 men is Bolden, who is a dynamic return specialist.
The Vikings had to add depth to their tight room, and they did exactly this by calling on three intriguing recruits. Bartholomew is the favorite to be Te3 because he has been drafted, but there are also physical features to love with Yurosek and Nesbit. Between the list and the training team, the three could stay for a while. I am curious to see if Oliver obtains an extension of contract at a given time this offseason.
SKULE was led to be the swing tackle, and he might have to be the starter of week 1 in the left tackle if the Darrisaw knee is not ready to leave. Rouse is always listed as a tackle, but he spent a lot of time in Guard last season and could end in long -term inner depth. Brown, which is the headliner of the UDFA class of the Vikings, was screened as a choice of fourth or fifth round by certain analysts. It is an old five -star recruit with significant athletics and is really worth keeping in mind.
Jackson, the choice of the first round of the Vikings, is essentially a lock to beat Brandel as a starting left guard, ending the renovation of the interior of Minnesota which started with the signatures of Kelly and Fries in March. Things should be bad so that Jackson does not win this work, one might think. Brandel appears to slide into a precious role as a backup superior to the two places of guard, with jurgens projecting itself as a rescue center. Huber is an intriguing UDFA that has had a good career at Wisconsin and has a certain versatility.
Beyond the three best Vikings players, Redmond and the Fifth Round Ingum-Dawkins should take into account the such important rotation parts that can obtain after the quarter-Arrière. Taimani and Rodriguez are larger players in more than one Phillips mold. The Vikings are very enthusiastic about interior versatility, Ingram-Dawkins can bring to the Brian Flores front.
With Pat Jones II disappeared, the path is allowed so that Turner plays much more and potentially take a big step in production in two years. The Andrew Van Ginkel extension says nothing about what the Vikings feel about Turner. Beyond him, there should be solid competition involving a pair of 2024 UDFAS and a pair of UDFAS 2025. Murphy and Richter have the advantage of being there for a year in the Flores system, but Batty and Chambliss both have advantages. Batty, in particular, is interesting. The Byu product is already 26 years old and was very productive in Big 12.
I only put 11 runners in fat on each side of the ball, but the pace is also one. Wilson, who returns for a second pass with the Vikings, is probably the LB3 and a basic player in the special teams. Minnesota is enthusiastic about Landing King, who is an excellent race defender with a potentially brilliant future. He should immediately place ahead of Asamoah, who could end up being reduced during the last year of his recruit contract.
Many people, including me, thought that the Vikings would write security at some point, since it could be the last year of Smith and Jackson is still somewhat not proven as a projected starter. But it never seemed to be something they were considering strongly. They will drive with what they have. This includes Ward, which is now an injury away from an important role.
The Vikings have not written a corner either, which is probably due to a combination of how the painting has fallen and confidence in the players currently on the list. They have great hopes for Rodgers during his first year with the Vikings. CB3 is probably Blackmon, which comes out of a torn ACL, or Okudah, a former choice of first draft. Thomas has a lot of experience in the slot machine, while McGothern is a former UDFA who has made the list of 53 men last year as a recruit. There is also a plot with the guys lower in the depth board.
However, that could (and perhaps should be) certainly a position where the Vikings continue to add at a given moment. It may mean bringing Stephon Gilmore or Shaq Griffin or go after another free agent. There is also a fairly interesting player who will attend his mini recruit.
Chapman is the above Australian bettor that could put pressure for Wright’s work after a five -year career in Auburn. Regarding return specialists, Bolden is someone who appears in the mixture with outgoing options like Nailor and Chandler.
