The deadline for the NFL to recover the fifth year option for 2022 Choice of first round approach.
For the Patriots, their decision was obvious.
According to ESPN, the patriots do not collect the fifth year option for Cole Strange. Drafting 29th in total in 2022, this option would have paid 16.8 million strange dollars in 2026. This means that the offensive line player will enter this season in the last year of his recruit contract.

The deadline for the NFL to take this option is Thursday.
Strange was a controversial choice of Bill Belichick. Guard outside competition in Chattanooga, it was an expected choice of the second or third round. However, the patriots considered him an ultra-athletic line player who would start immediately.
This is what Strange did – starting in every match of his recruit season at the left guard. In 2023, Strange made 10 departures before undergoing a torn balloon tendon. Recovery was not easy. Strange said last season That he had to learn to walk again.
Before this injury, Bill Belichick said about Strange: “I think he has played his best football lately.”

“It was very frustrating because I felt the same thing,” Strange said last season. “I felt like for the first time in the league, I have sort of entered the swing of things. My year recruited, I felt like I was improving, and at the end of the year, I played better. Last year, I was injured and extinct throughout the year. But in the end, I felt as if we clicked with me.
Strange returned to the training ground last November and coaches staff moved him to the center position. He ended up playing in three games, making two departures in the center.
This off -season, the Patriots said they wanted Strange to continue working in the center. Last week, after the team resulted in the Jared Wilson Center around 3, Eliot Wolf was asked if it could point out that Strange dates back to the left guard.
“Yes, we see versatility as the name of the game here,” said Wolf. “So, we have the impression that Cole, obviously, mainly has the experience in guard, he had this great experience at the center last year, so we have the impression of being able to compete in both places.”
