Friday evening, the dreams of the natives of Iberville officially turned to reality. While the Indianapolis colts were on the chronometer with the 80th choice in total in the draft of the NFL 2025, the corner half of Minnesota Justin Walley received the call of his life.
“It was very surreal,” said Walley. “Growing up, you always see the guys passing this call, but I think that until you really live at that time, you cannot really grasp the magnitude of it and how it clicks you inside, and once I saw it say the Indianapolis colts, I said to myself:” Oh snap, that’s the real deal! “But it is an honor and it is a blessing.
Once the third round of the draft is finished, the director general of the Colts, Chris Ballard, was questioned about the talented defensive player. The first words that lead to mind? “It’s really good!”
“It is good,” said Ballard. “He is really good. He broke his wrist, and at a time when people do not want to train, he does everything … with a casting.
It is sure to say that Walley also likes the organization of the colts, spending time in Indiana just a few weeks ago.
“I made a 30-year-old visit there and I was there, I think two weeks ago. The coach staff are incredible. They have excellent facilities,” said Walley. “The community and all their fans base really support them. I have a thousand calls and messages from all the fans of the colts, so as I said, it’s an honor.”
Looking back on his career in high school, Mr. Football 2020’s recipient said that the Iberville community had always supported it and that he knows that support will continue in a colt uniform.
“Just the community, and everyone accepting us with open arms and again to this day, I have so much support from Iberville guys and that means the world for me.”
Walley’s trip with the Will Colts started on May 8 while heading north in Indianapolis. From from Iberville to Indiana, we could not be more proud of you.
