The Pittsburgh steelers entered and left the draft of the 2025 NFL without a Franchise quarter, which will be a failure. Head coach Mike Tomlin, however, stressed that physicity was the driving force behind the Steelers draft strategy.
If the goal was to become larger and stronger, it is difficult to argue against Pittsburgh moving away from the draft as winners.

He had a cost. The Steelers have achieved a quarter of a quarter with each of their choices day 1 and 2, waiting for the 6th round to take the quarter of the state of Ohio Will Howard. Pittsburgh transmitted Sheder Sanders, Jaxson Dart and Jalen Milroe in the process, contradicting the projections of pre-project of many analysts.
Despite this, the Steelers received praise for their draft course in 2025, in particular by winning the first ranking of the AFC of Sports Illustrated.
“Pittsburgh did not have its choice of second round because of the trade of DK Metcalf and has always nailed the draft”, “Matt Verderame wrote. “Harmon is an inside stud that should be well combined with Cam Heyward, while Johnson will do an unpleasant tandem with Jaylen Warren in the back field. Sawyer is also a good value that should prosper in the Pittsburgh system, without any team doing a better job to train talents in front-seven over the years.”
The Steelers stacked several good process decisions during the three -day festivities. The defensive platform Derrick Harmon offers a mixture of mass and athletics which lends itself to a massive advantage with a path to the contribution immediately. Kaleb Johnson is an excellent suitable scheme that offers more play potential than Najee Harris to a cost fraction.

Sawyer may not play a massive role on Pittsburgh’s defensive line, but as a breathtaking rotation player, its power and its engine are incredibly important. The Steelers were exhibited by the Baltimore Ravens without this type of strengthening in 2024, making it an important element in the potential football of January. The Yahya Black nose plate will join him, adding even more mass at the front.
It is ambitious to call Howard much more than a starter on the sidelines, but if it is close to a viable starting quarter, the excess value of a selection of the Round 6 is impressive. He can get this shot if Mason Rudolph also begins in week 1.
It doesn’t matter if the Steelers get credit for spending their second round choice on Metcalf, their process and their ability to find real contributors are worthy of the immediate praise that the class has received. Making this first impression could decide how powerful Pittsburgh is in 2025.
